Ways to Use the Video Lesson Book
The mirror | math Video Lesson Book is still in beta.
There are two types of videos in this book: Lesson and Guided Practice. The Lesson videos are typically less than 20 minutes long. Each of the lessons are given using a Cornell Notes format and they are designed to fit on a single piece of paper. Each Lesson video has a corresponding Guided Practice video. These videos are designed for the student to work on their own at their own pace. The student should play the video, observe the problem, and attempt it on their own. If they are successful, they can simply fast forward to check their answer. If they are not successful, they can watch the video and get some additional instruction on the problem. The key to the Guided Practice is that the students should be pausing and trying on their own. It is not designed for the student to simply copy. They should allow for some struggle on their own.
